Getting Started
-
No. You're never required to share more than you're comfortable with. I may gently challenge at times, to notice whether a protective defense is getting in the way of the work, but the details themselves are always your choice. We navigate that together, safely and at your pace.
-
Complex and developmental trauma, single-event trauma, dissociative symptoms, and the anxiety, depression, perfectionism, and shame that often come with them. Sessions are also neurodivergence-affirming for ADHD and autistic clients.
-
Yes. In-person sessions are based in Vancouver at Shivani Wells Therapy Group.
Sessions & What to Expect
-
Standard sessions are 60 minutes, which gives a steady container for ongoing work. Extended sessions are 90 minutes, and are available when a particular session calls for more time, such as deeper experiential or somatic interventions.
-
Yes. All sessions, including somatic and trauma-focused work, are available virtually and follow the same pacing and approach as in-person sessions.
Somatic & Trauma Therapy
-
Somatic therapy works with the body, not just the story. Instead of only talking about what happened, sessions track the nervous system with great detail and awareness to breath, posture, sensation, and the body's responses as they arise, because trauma often lives below the reach of words alone.
-
Insight alone (understanding why you feel a certain way) often isn't enough to change how you feel. Trauma therapy works with the nervous system directly, so the goal isn't just to explain the pattern but to develop new nervous system templates.
EDMR
-
I'm currently completing advanced EMDR training and it isn't yet part of client sessions. If EMDR is specifically what you're looking for, reach out and I can let you know when it's available, or point you toward a good fit in the meantime.
