THANK YOU FOR FINDING YOUR WAY HERE.

Hi, I’m Katharina Bleinis, whatever brought you to this page, whether it was searching for support, a hard season, or simply a quiet nudge that something needed to change, I am glad you found your way here.

“I did not arrive at trauma-informed work through theory alone, but through years of learning in both the therapy room and on the yoga mat, that healing is rarely just a matter of thinking our way through pain”

I have been a yoga teacher for over a decade, and long before I became a counsellor, the practice taught me something I now bring into every session, that the body holds what words sometimes cannot reach, and that real change often happens through the body, not around it.

Before private practice, I worked within a psychiatric outpatient unit for many years, where I had the privilege of walking alongside people through some of the most difficult chapters of their lives. That experience shaped my clinical grounding in a lasting way, it taught me to meet intensity with steadiness rather than fear, and it deepened my belief that every person I sit with is whole, complex, and so much more than what brought them into the room. It was also where I came to understand, in a very real and unavoidable way, how deeply our attachment systems shape us, how the earliest patterns of connection and safety we learn often echo through every relationship that follows, including the one we have with ourselves.

Outside of the therapy room, I live in Squamish, where the mountains are never far from view. I love spending time outdoors with my partner and my dog, whether that is splitboarding or hiking in the summer months. At home, you will usually find me with my hands in the garden or a book in hand, slowing down in the same way I hope to help others learn to do.

My Approach to Therapy

My approach is grounded in a simple belief: healing isn't only something we think our way through. It's something we feel our way through. Our bodies hold onto our stories, and healing asks to be a full bodied, felt experience, not just a cognitive one.

As a trauma and somatic therapist, my work goes beyond traditional talk therapy. I invite the body, the nervous system, and the different parts of you into the process of healing. I draw on somatic approaches like Sensorimotor Psychotherapy alongside Internal Family Systems, helping clients tune into the subtle cues of their body as a source of insight and change.

Rather than staying on the surface, I gently guide clients toward the roots of what they're struggling with. Often these roots live in early attachment wounds, held in the body as implicit memory long after the events themselves have passed. In this way, therapy becomes more than conversation. It becomes a space for embodied healing.

Underneath all of this is a trust in the nervous system's own capacity to integrate what once felt like too much. That capacity is what makes deep, lasting change possible.
