Somatic Therapy in Squamish, British Columbia and Online

Somatic Therapy

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy for adults and adolescents whose experiences have not fully resolved through talking alone, and continue to live in the body. Sessions are experiential, gently following breath, sensation, and the body's responses as they happen in the moment. We move at a pace that feels manageable, working alongside talk therapy to help process what the body remembers, even when words alone have not been enough to reach it. Sessions are offered in-person and online

What Somatic Therapy Looks Like in Practice

Somatic therapy is quieter than most people expect. We usually sit and talk like any session, and along the way I might invite you to notice what’s happening in your body, like tight shoulders, a shallow breath, or a sense of drifting away. These are often nervous system patterns your body learned to keep you safe, such as bracing, shutting down, or staying on high alert. Instead of pushing past them, we get curious, maybe slowing down, trying a small movement, or simply staying with a sensation until it shifts. Every invitation is optional, and you can pause or say no at any point. Over time, this gentle attention helps your system find new ways of responding, so you can feel more present and at home in yourself.

What to Expect

  • Still talk therapy, with more attention on what your body is communicating alongside your words

  • Not about big emotional releases or reliving hard moments (although this could happen)

  • We follow what your nervous system brings forward, at a pace that feels manageable

  • Lots of gentle noticing

  • Small body experiments, such as pressing your feet into the floor or shifting your posture, to see what changes

  • You’re always the one deciding what to try

How We Work Together

Therapy shaped around you, your needs, and where you are.

  • Standard Sessions — 60 Minutes | $160

    IN-PERSON
Our standard session for ongoing therapy.

The standard session length, and the space where most of our work together will happen. 60 minutes offers a steady container for the ongoing work of therapy, whether that's talking through what's present for you this week, working with a part that's come forward, or moving into somatic and experiential work as it arises.

    LOCATIONS

    • Katharina Bleinis Counselling, Squamish, BC
    • Shivani Wells Therapy Group, Vancouver, BC
    • Lavender Grove Counselling, North Vancouver, BC

  • Extended Sessions — 90 Minutes | $240

    IN-PERSON / VIRTUAL
    For reprocessing and deeper processing.

These longer sessions are set aside for reprocessing work, including EMDR and somatic reprocessing. This kind of work needs time to settle in, move through what comes up, and return to steady ground before we close. Ninety minutes gives us room to do that without rushing.

    LOCATIONS

  • Virtual Sessions — 60 or 90 Minutes | $160

    VIRTUAL
    Therapy from wherever you are.

All sessions, including extended ones, are also available virtually, so you can access support from wherever you are. Whether we're working together in person or online, the same care and pacing apply, and virtual sessions are just as suited to somatic and experiential work as in person ones.

Virtual sessions are offered in both the standard 60 minute length and the extended 75 minute option, so you can choose whichever fits what you need for that particular session.
